Terms and Conditions of Use

1. Purpose and acceptance

These Terms govern access to and use of the mobile application Stroop Overload (“the App”), developed and operated by SoftYorch (“we”).

By creating an account, signing in or continuing to use the App you declare that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. The service

Stroop Overload is a game of reflexes and reaction speed based on the Stroop effect. It has single-player modes (Endless, Lives, Time Attack and Overtime) and online multiplayer modes (Mistake, Hot Potato and Solo Survival), a progress system (level, experience, trophies and statistics), leaderboards and advertising.

The App is entertainment. It is not a medical or psychological test and its results say nothing about your health.

3. Health warning

The game is fast and uses colours that change quickly, pulses and moving effects. A small number of people may have seizures or lose consciousness when exposed to certain visual patterns, even with no history of epilepsy. If you or anyone in your family has had such symptoms, talk to a doctor before playing.

The stronger effects can be turned off in Profile. Stop playing at once if you feel dizzy, see double, or notice twitching or disorientation.

4. Accounts

• Minimum age: the App may be used from the age of 13. If you are younger, do not create an account or use the App.
• You can play as a guest or create a registered account with an email address and a password.
• A guest’s progress is kept only on the device. Guests cannot play online, do not appear on the leaderboard and can earn only some of the trophies. Guest accounts unused for 30 days are deleted and their progress cannot be recovered.
• If you create an account from a guest session, your points, level and trophies come with you. The daily streak starts again.
• You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything done from your account. Tell us at once about any unauthorised use.
• You can delete your account and its data at any time from the App’s profile screen.

5. Rules of use

By using Stroop Overload you agree:

• Not to use the App for unlawful or fraudulent purposes or against these Terms.
• Not to use bots, macros, exploits, reverse engineering or any other means to alter how the game, the leaderboards or the scoring work.
• Not to impersonate anyone or use nicknames that are offensive, defamatory or infringe the rights of others.
• Not to spoil other players’ experience in the multiplayer modes.

Breaking these rules may lead to the suspension or deletion of the account without notice.

6. Scores and progress

Scores, levels, trophies and leaderboard positions are worked out by our servers. A game the server finds impossible is discarded and its points are not counted.

Points, levels and trophies have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged or transferred. We may adjust or reset scores, levels, trophies and leaderboards, for instance when the rules of the game change or to correct errors or abuse.

7. User content

The nickname and avatar you choose are visible to other players in leaderboards and online matches. We reserve the right to moderate, rename or remove content that breaks these rules.

8. Advertising

The App shows third-party advertising through Google AdMob. Personalising it depends on your consent, collected through Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) as the GDPR requires. See the Privacy Policy for the data processed for advertising.

9. Paid features

The App may offer, now or in the future, optional paid features (for example removing ads, or premium content). Such purchases will go through the payment system of the app store and will also be subject to its terms.

10. Intellectual property

All intellectual and industrial property rights in the App (design, code, graphics, logos and the name “Stroop Overload”) belong to SoftYorch or its licensors. Reproducing, distributing or modifying it without express permission is forbidden.

11. Availability and changes to the service

We may modify, suspend or discontinue the App or any of its features, wholly or in part, at any time, with no right to compensation except where the applicable law requires it.

12. Limitation of liability

The App is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that the service will be free of interruptions or errors. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damage arising from using, or being unable to use, the App.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Substantial changes will be announced in the App or on this website. Continuing to use the App after they are published means you accept them.

15. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Spanish law. Any dispute will be submitted to the courts that correspond under the applicable consumer protection rules.
